Associate Producer

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing entertaining documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking high-energy Associate Producers, both off-duty professional volunteers and emerging producers, seeking to take on various works in our robust production slate. We currently have multiple projects in the pre-production and production stages. As the Associate Producer you will participate in all aspects of a project’s lifecycle including: research, writing, coordination of crews and participation on shoots. Additionally, you will oversee and track the progress of post-production editing and the production of digital promotions, press, and publicity.

This volunteer position is an excellent opportunity to hone leadership and project management skills.

Qualifications: The ideal AP should have some actual experience and knowledge of film/video production. Hands-on experience in handling pre-production for remote shoots a definite plus. Experience on-set also a plus, as is familiarity and knowledge of the post-production workflow and production office protocol. You must have excellent communication skills, a desire to learn, and a proactive attitude.

Experience in the following skill sets preferred, but not required:

  • Research
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of film history/editing
  • Leadership and coordination

Audio Tech

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing entertaining documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic Audio Tech to forward our mission, gain tangible skills, and grow as member of a team. In this internship you will assist on projects nearing completion and projects under development. This is an excellent opportunity to gain audio engineering / sound design experience.

Applicants should have some soundtrack design training/experience, and be proficient in Pro Tools, Audition or other audio program. An undergraduate or graduate degree in sound design/audio engineering is ideal but not required.

We especially welcome individuals with a background or interest in filmmaking, animation, anthropology, environmental sciences, arts and business administration, and international development studies. An undergraduate or graduate degree in film/media is ideal but not required.

It is preferable if applicants can bring in their own laptop computer.

Bookkeeper

Interlock Media, Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to international environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and community level by producing educational and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a volunteer bookkeeper to provide financial operations support. Applicant should have the ability to work independently with sharp attention to detail. Remaining flexible and being able to take the initiative in a resource-limited environment a must.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have some actual experience and knowledge in basic office accounting, Quickbooks, budget creation and vendor communications. Knowledge of bookkeeping for non-profits is especially helpful. You must have excellent communication skills, a desire to learn and a proactive attitude.

Experience in the following skill sets preferred, but not required:

  • Understanding of both PC & Mac platforms
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks

Emerging Editor

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing educational, documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking an Emerging Editor who will work closely with the director and the Senior Editor to assist in all aspects of post-production. Applicants must have formal training / experience on Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer or Final Cut Pro 7 or X or similar NLE. Knowledge of After Effects or Apple Motion a plus - as would some experience with other programs such as ProTools, Audition, iZotope etc. for sound, Illustrator, Photoshop etc.for graphics, Boris, GenArts, Red Giant etc. Candidates should also be comfortable with the technical aspects of post-production equipment as some troubleshooting will be required. Intensive critique on artistic and technical approaches to documentary cutting will be given.

Grant Writer

Grant Writer desired to research, identify, and petition funding agencies for Interlock Media’s projects. Salient research and writing skills, excellent communicative ability, and a pro-active attitude are ideal for this volunteer opportunity. Applicant should possess the ability to work independently, remain flexible, handle donors, and take initiative in a resource-limited environment. This is an open-ended position with the opportunity for future involvement in ongoing projects.

Production Assistant

We are seeking talented, enthusiastic Production Assistants to forward our mission, gain tangible skills, and grow as members of a team. In this internship you will assist on projects nearing completion and projects under development.

Production Assistant Interns participate in all aspects of film and media production, including:

  • Research
  • Coordination of crews
  • Shooting video
  • Video audio editing
  • Digital promotion
  • Production office know-how
  • Workflow and organization
  • Non-profit management and fundraising


We especially welcome individuals with a background or interest in filmmaking, audio, animation, anthropology, environmental sciences, arts and business administration, and international development studies. An undergraduate or graduate degree in film/media is ideal but not required, however some prior experience in Pre-Production, Production and/or Post-Production is required.

Motion Graphics / 3D Design Emerging Artist

We are seeking an Motion Graphics / 3D Design Emerging Artist who will work closely with the director and the Senior Editor to assist in post-production graphics creation. Applicants should have formal training / experience in After Effects, Apple Motion, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max or similar software. Illustration chops and experience with Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign or Dreamweaver a plus.

Auction / Event Coordinator Volunteer

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We produce educational, documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a high-energy Auction / Event Coordinator to be responsible for managing and developing a fundraising auction and overseeing the auction finale event. Biddingforgood.com is our service.

Your duties will include prospecting donations, one-on-one meetings with private philanthropists, seeking out corporate donations managing the relationships of donors and organization of the fundraising auction event as well as managing other off-duty professionals and your assistants.

A pro-active attitude are ideal for this volunteer opportunity. Applicant should possess the ability to work independently, remain flexible and take initiative in a resource-limited environment. He or she should have excellent writing skills, an interest in environmental and humanitarian causes, and previous fundraising/event experience.

If you are ready to jump in with both feet and make our next fundraising event a spectacular success – we want to hear from you! You will get plenty of support from Staff and our Board as well.

Production Office Coordinator

Interlock Media is seeking a high-energy Production Office Coordinator, both off-duty professional volunteers and emerging producers, seeking to take on a varied and robust production slate. We currently have multiple projects in the pre-production and production stages.

You will be responsible for production support, organizing materials and the administrative tasks required for a smooth-running production office.

This volunteer position is an excellent opportunity to hone leadership and project management skills. It’s ideal for those interested in non-profit arts administration, and documentary and new media production.

Applicant should possess the ability to work independently, remain flexible and take initiative in a resource-limited environment. Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude are ideal.

Hours: A minimum of 16 hours per week

Color Grade Technician

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing educational, documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a Color Grade Technician to work closely with the director in critical color work on a slate of projects. Applicants should have some formal training / experience using color correction software such as DaVinci Resolve or SpeedGrade along with various control surfaces. Candidates should also be comfortable with the technical aspects of post-production equipment and be able to troubleshoot when necessary.

You will receive Intensive critique on artistic and technical approaches to documentary color grading by the director.

As in the past there will be potential opportunities for freelance.

Social Media Coordinator

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing educational, documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic Social Media Coordinator to forward our mission, and grow as members of a team. In this internship, you will develop our social media and online marketing presence in service of Interlock’s mission and goals. Interns will be responsible for creating and managing social media posts and blog posts, monitoring social media activity to determine whether goals are being met, performing research for measuring response and developing additional social media and marketing strategies, plus other tasks in support of Interlock Media’s current and upcoming projects.

Prior study in a program for social media, digital media, marketing, graphic design, writing, web development is a plus. Interest and enthusiasm in these areas is a plus.

The following skills and experience are preferred:

  • Major social media platforms and traffic measurement tools such as Facebook Insights and Google Analytics and social media management tools such as HootSuite.
  • Familiarity with Graphic Design and Web Design, including Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Content Management Systems and HTML.
  • Writing, blogging, community management a plus.

Web Designer

Interlock Media, based in East Cambridge, MA, is a non-profit film company that is dedicated to promoting solutions to environmental and human rights challenges. We support informed empowerment at the grassroots and policy level by producing educational, documentary and dramatic media works.

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic Web Designer to forward our mission, and grow as members of a team. In this internship, you will manage websites for Interlock and its documentary films. We are looking for someone who is both proficient in front-end layout and has some back-end coding experience as well.

The ideal applicant has an interest in developing a solid website with a good eye for layout design and usability. Best of all would be experience creating and managing websites with particular emphasis on the integration of graphic designs, social media, and video. Proficiency in WordPress, HTML, JavaScript and PHP are a definite plus.
